I'm having the damdest time trying to figure out how to multitrack in Ableton using the Mixtape function. I've watched countless videos on how to add clips and the beatgrid stuff syncing the turnables, but havent not been able to do what they do on the tutorial video. I'm very furstrated, and I'm seriously considering getting rid of Ableton. Someone please help!!!!!
Thanks
Thanks

Can you explain a bit more what you're struggling with?
The mixtape function should be very straightforward, you just change the record settings to .als in Scratch Live, record your mix, and then when you open the ALS file in Ableton all the tracks and automation will be there.

Well on the tutorial video, it shows how you can sync one turntable to free up the other one and add clips. I'm confused on if you have to record your mix the regular way, and then add the clips and all later or not. The video makes it seem like you can do all of that at the same time.

That is not mixtpae that is the bridge.
you cant add clips to ableton from the serato window. YOu need to have all the clips you would like to play already in ableton.
The regular tracks you are playing you need to have the the beatgrids accurately set. So do them manually. then when playing a track on deck a you can launch some ableton clips in time with deck 1 (when you push the button to sync them) then start playing a track in deck B. You can not stop deck a or change the track or you will screw ableton up.
I suggest running 3 decks and dropping the ableton transport control into the 3rd deck and playing from there.

I guess it's not a program that's meant for me to use. I'll stick with GarageBand. Thanks for your input though.

Hey DJWhizlam,
Thanks for getting in touch,
As phatbob and Code:E have stated. The Mixtape feature relates to recording a mix.
What you are referring to is "The Bridge".
The Bridge allows you to sync an Ableton session with Scratch Live.
-- This allows you to mix clips from your Ableton session in time with Scratch Live.
-- You will need to setup a "The Bridge" template in Ableton, or open a working Ableton session before you open Scratch Live.
I would advise you read through "The Bridge" manual to get a better understanding.
If you have any other questions please feel free to ask :)
Thanks.
