Talk about Serato Video and Video-SL.

MacBook Pro 13 vs 15

I know everyone is going to say buy the 15, especially for the graphics card and quad core, but is it REALLY necessary? Much prefer a 13 laptop.

Is there going to be any major differences in performance using SDJ and Video?

u answered your own question.....no graphics card = little to no effects and much more stress on the system.....If its a money thing look at the refurbs....if it's a size thing, well i dunno what to say, Once you really dig into video mixing youll want more....

Definitely get the 15

I did some stress testing last night. I've been having a problem with SV consistently with my 57SL + SSL

Support communicates it's a known issue between the 57SL and SV with using Group 6 effects.

SDJ + NS7 + SV = Perfect

No crashes works smoothly, there are other bugs I found but it's functionality vs SV randomly crashing for no reason.

All running on a 15" MacBook Pro

It seems likely that the next generation Mac laptops will have much more powerful "integrated" video (with a small amount of dedicated RAM, like 128mb), so if a new computer isn't needed RIGHT NOW the best thing to do is probably wait.

I've stated this many times now.

I have a 13" Pro.

From my real-world experience using it over many months, I would 100% recommend buying a 15" instead.

Simple.

15 is the only way to go if video is an important part of your sets.

That intel card only runs serato video because of the MacOS ecosystem. Its not even powerful enough in a PC.

You NEED a dedicated video card. (and ME)

There is an issue with 57SL + Group 6 Effects + SV. Confirmed with support.

SDJ + SV + NS7 works solid.

Not sure what your getting at beside the fact that you wont try use ME which has no issues with the group 6 as far as I am aware.

He asked a question, I stated the fact. Nothing else.

Well it looks like the Macbook's are going to get an update early June anyway, so lets see what happens then! New processors, graphics, cheaper etc... Guess I'll wait

Because it's working for me, the unfortunate part is the known bug with the group 6 effects.

Apart from that SDJ testing is solid and I'm happy with the results.

There is a fix coming for the 57SL issue, so I'm ok with that also.
