M4a files (which show perfectly fine in my imac) do not show complete info (missing artist & album for instance name of track also typically refers a number + title of the song, so not possible to order alphabetically) on my laptop (macbook air). This is when i transfer files to the macbook via a usb drive.

Extremely frustrating to find music in gigs, where you need all the help you can get!! Have analyzed the files, checked "show itunes library" in setup... not sure what else to do :(

thank you!!

to add some more details:
- files are not in the laptop's hard drive because its memory is not large enough, so only in usb (hence i can't add to laptop's itunes library)
- When playing the song, "artist" field is still empty.

Any help / tips would be greatly appreciated guys.

Thank you

one more:
- Once i take the usb back to the imac, itch still can't recognize the full info of the files saved in the USB (even if on the folders within "Library", the same tracks do show the correct, complete info). Frustrating.

Hey estara,

This maybe because ITCH is unable to save to ID3 tags, so it's making references into the Metadata folder in your _Serato_ folder. Or maybe your write permissions are read only for these files. We'd have to investigate further.

Could you check in Music > _Serato_ Metadata > Have a look for references to one of the files in question?

Could you also please attach a file on this thread for me to look at also.

Hi Dave W,

Thanks a lot for your reply. I found a way to fix the problem through several steps:
1. Drag the intended mp3 and m4a files from the Itunes library (in Itch) to the usb drive
2. Create a crate in Itch on my "main" pc (empty for the time being)
3. Drag the individual files FROM THE USB to the new Crate

Once i follow these steps, the files are correctly read in my laptop via the usb! while i can't tell you why this works, it does... so will stick with it as it's a relatively simple procedure.

Thanks again for your reply!!

So it works now? Thats great news. It will be taking that Metadata by the sounds of it :)
